Melbourne Zombie Walk 2016: NATION-Z
Saturday 29th, October Birrarung Marr Parkland
This year’s annual Melbourne Zombie Walk will take place on Saturday 29th October at Birrung Marr.
Themed ‘Nation-Z’, it will be a celebration of the all things UNDEAD and celebrating International Zombie Week. Commencing at 10am, festival goers can get Zombiefied by our professional make-up and special effects artists, plus get splattered with blood in the splatter tent. A prize will be on offer for best costume of the day, so dress to impress. There will also be a full range of markets, food and beverage stalls on offer, plus 18+ licensed areas within the festival.
The FX Channel music stage will keep the crowds entertained all day – Stay tuned for the announcement of the headline act, it’s sure to be a huge crowd pleaser!
The ‘walk’ itself will take place at 5pm – leaving from Birrarung Marr Park and weaving through the surrounding inner-city streets, where the Zombies will get to both frighten and delight bystanders and the unsuspecting public.
With the ‘walk’ returning back to the Park, the festival will continue on through the evening, finishing up at 8pm when it will then move onto the official after-party venue which will be announced shortly.
Don’t miss out on what is going to be the biggest and best Melbourne Zombie Walk/Festival yet!
About the Zombie Walk:
The Zombie Walk is an annual event which was first introduced to Queensland in 2006. In 2009, Brisbane Zombie Walk became affiliated with the Brain Foundation of Australia, to raise awareness and funds for the charity whilst also offering the public a unique and entertaining event.
From humble beginnings, the 2011 event achieved a record breaking crowd of over 20,000 participants, unofficially breaking the current Guinness World Record for the largest Zombie Walk attendance in the world!
2012 saw the event take on a new direction with the introduction of a fully fledged festival in addition to the ‘walk’. The new format was a huge success and will remain a part of all future Zombie Walk events.
To date, Brisbane Zombie Walk has raised in excess of $100,000 for the Brain Foundation of Australia, with hopes to raise over $55,000 in 2016. Due to the success of the Brisbane Zombie Walk and recent affiliations with Perth and Sydney, we are expanding this event to the “Entertainment Capital of Australia. The city of Melbourne.
